Biography
Hughes Pope is a newcomer to the Nashville circuit. His lyrics are honest and unfiltered. Coming from a punk rock background, you might be surprised by his unique blend of folk, rock, & Americana humorously dubbed “Ya’ll-ternative.” He originally grew up in Georgia and moved to Kansas City, where he was an active member of the local music scene as the drummer for Indie Pop band Electric Orchids. He later moved to Savannah, Georgia, where he continued to write music through the pandemic and found a more personal expression through folk music. His own personal message, which derives from his own life experiences is highly relatable and express a message of fighting through trauma and rebirth. He now resides in Nashville, where he is currently producing his freshman LP, “Anywhere But Georgia.” Hughes' picking style on guitar and his unique vocalization are at the core of the production. He is currently working with Nashville fiddle player Kay Deitrick and producer / instrumentalist Waylen Thomas Hardy.
